| Mac Plus no sound from speaker |

Another issue with the same Mac Plus I mentioned in my previous post: I get no chime at boot. If I plug in headphones I do hear one, but nothing is coming out of the speaker. I also tried increasing the volume in the control panel but it does nothing. I put in a new battery (I read somewhere online that it could have something to do with it). Any ideas? |

A few things possibly - bad speaker, J3 solder / trace issue, logic board ground with RFI shield... verify the speaker is good, the speaker connector (J3) and related traces are solid, and that the logic board isn't making contact with the RFI shield (you can test operation while the back case is off and no RFI installed. |

Yeah, seems like the speaker is dead. Measured the resistance across its terminals and no connection. Doesn't seem like they are easily removable for replacing. |
