Simple blank screen saver needed
Posted by: jasa1063 on 2022-04-29 18:19:52
Can someone suggest a simple blank screen saver other than After Dark for System 6.0.8 on a Mac SE? I just want to dim the screen to prevent burn in and I want to use as little memory as possible. I am currently using Moire 4.01, but that does not have a simple blank screen module.

Thanks!

Welcome jasa1063,

the easier method is sometimes the best - turn down your brightness dial when not in use! Less strain on the analogue board and CRT in tow.

I used to use AutoIdle and I believe it had a simple “darken screen” option, but that was 30 years ago so I might be remembering wrong.

It looks like Pyro! may have a dimmer contained in it. Earlier versions are available and would be something to try.

I use basic black and like it. Just a simple black screen saver that you can adjust the time too and is very small. It can be found here https://www.macintoshrepository.org/28342-basic-black

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. I tested it on my Mac SE with System 6.0.8 and it works perfectly!
