Posted by: HippieMac on 2022-04-22 13:49:45Hello everyone I have been trying to figure out a way to read pdf files on my Mac but I have ran into an issue. I am using a Mac plus with 4 mb of ram, system 6.05, and blue SCSI emulator. I have successfully created pdf files using adobe pdf writer but cannot read those files on my Mac plus. I have tried installing adobe reader but when I do so it gives an error reading the file with a number 13. Also after I install adobe reader, I am no longer able to save files to PDFs, the plus freezes up and will not do anything. does anyone know of another application I might could use to view my pdf files on my plus or if I am doing something wrong? Thank you

The earlier version of Adobe Reader is most likely an OS 7+ application, requiring 4MB+ RAM and at least a 68020 I'd say:
Acrobat 1.0 was originally released 15 June 1993 for Macintosh, later for DOS and Windows 3.1. This was not available in single copies and was not initially free, with Acrobat Reader originally priced at $50 per user.

Don't forget that early LaserWriters were, for the time, very serious computers, and even they could only render PostScript slowly.
Posted by: HippieMac on 2022-04-23 19:57:22I was afraid of this but I’m going to keep messing around with it and see what I can come up with. I was mainly looking to write PDFs and transfer them to new systems for fun and I achieved that using the pdf writer but was hoping I could take it one step further. I was able to install adobe task manager 3.6 on system 6.05 and read the pdf that came with it but none of the ones I have made myself are readable. I appreciate all the help I have reacieved on 68kmla, this is a great place. If I figure out someway to make it work I will let everyone know here in this discussion.
