How to get and/or upgrade a SuperMac Thunder/24 to ROM v3.x?

Howdy,

I'm going to be moving my Thunder/24 + DSP to my Power Macintosh 8100/100. I'm trying to create a vintage top-tier Nubus media workstation, so I'm putting the SuperMac Thunder/24 + DSP card, a Radius VideoVision card, and a Digidesign Audiomedia II card in there. The latter two cards work fine, but the Thunder/24 has a v1.6 ROM (if I recall correctly). In order for it to work in a Power Macintosh it needs at least a v3.0 ROM.

I don't have a programmer nor any EEPROM chips to program. I know some folks here have the requisite gear for this sort of thing. Any chance I could commission anybody to burn a v3.0 or v3.1 to the appropriate chip for my Thunder/24?

Cheers!

The code can be found on this site if you do a search (3.0 ROM).

Found it, thank you for the hint.

Now I just need to print it out and throw it at the card on my desk. 🙂

Where are you based?

I can burn one for you (I think I have the right EPROMs here) but I'm in the UK and hauling one transatlantically may not be the most efficient option. That said, the offer's open if you can't find anyone closer...

I'm in Portland, OR in the US. I don't mind paying for the effort, the EEPROM, and the postage.

Let me check in the morning if I have any of the right EPROMs around. I think I do but not 100% sure.

Yup, looks like I have plenty of 27512s, more than I can reasonably eat. Assuming they work, I'll sort one out for you for cost of postage. Will DM you with logistics once I've checked they're actually functional...
