recapping a Portable M5120, non backlight
Posted by: ironborn65 on 2022-04-06 13:43:32
Hi pals,

I found a nice Mac Portable, but the previous owners did not finish the recapping, i.e. they removed the caps, so I have not a clue which are which.
Bruce has a guide, but for the backlight version.
I found a high res pic, the 47uF 16V, 470uF 25V are ok, but some are still not clearly readable. I can guess what they are, but I prefer to be sure and ask here you guys.
Can someone help?

thanks so much

There was a chart on the web that had all of these... It used to be on maccaps but i think that site has since died, and with it, all of the data.

Once the values are figured out here, I can add it to my website MacDat so that people can access it easier in the future, now that maccaps is down.

Searched archive.org for maccaps and while the page is archived, the photos with the cap locations arent

I believe this should be an accurate list

comparing with the Backlight version by Bruce I could infer that:
the 1uF 50V SMD at the left bottom and top left are correct
so do the 10uF 16V SMD on the right
I'd be positive.
For the axial ones:
C2 220uF 25V
C3 100uF 25V
C6 100uF 25V
C18 100uF 25V
C19 100uF 25V
C20 ??

Thanks @Torbar and everyone else to follow me on this ! this is all I need!

For the axial ones:
C2 220uF 25V
C3 100uF 25V
C6 100uF 25V
C18 100uF 25V
C19 100uF 25V
C20 ??
I assume you meant radial, C20 is the only one that's axial in that list.
Some corrections from my board:
C2 - 100uF 25V
C3 - 220uF 25V
C20 - 470uF 25V
