| A/UX on a Quadra 605? |
Posted by: fegos on 2022-04-03 14:19:41 Hi all, i have replaced my Q605 CPU with the one i had in my broken 840av. So it is running at 25Mhz WITH FPU. The Q605 is not listed in the compatibility list for A/UX. Is it dead in the water or is there anything that can be done to install it with some workaround? |
Posted by: cheesestraws on 2022-04-03 14:22:59 afraid not: there are missing drivers for hardware in the 605 in A/UX, so even if you can con it into booting, you can't see anything or interact with it in any meaningful way. |
Posted by: fegos on 2022-04-03 14:24:49 that's a bummer....thanks a lot! |
Posted by: joshc on 2022-04-03 14:37:06 Off topic somewhat but 25mhz is slow for one of those, you can get it running at 33mhz with this simple mod: https://lost-contact.mit.edu/afs/um...g Page :c4/Clock Chipping Home Page/q605.html |

Posted by: fegos on 2022-04-03 22:41:31 well yes, that is on my list. I will do the overclocking. I also happen to have a one of those QuadDoublers, it runs but it gets very hot (this one does not have a fan, just a heatsink) and after a while the computer crashes....guessing some sort of temperature protection |
