B&W G3 handles, part deuce

So after much hemming and hawwing I bit the bullet and bout the replacement rear foot for my blue and white from usedmac (at 45$ mind, I know I know, supply and demand but sheesh)

anyway, it showed up today, and I tried it on, and this...doesn't feel quite right20220321_234638.jpg

I.suppose I could mention that my g3 does have the server card in the bottom slot, possibly making this a g3 server, but Apple wouldn't make that slight of a change to the case plastics to make them incompatible, would they? I simultaneously could and couldn't believe they would.

I did send a note to the customer service on-site, and I got a reply to "try again, they're the same front and back, we've shipped like 200 of these" (paraphrasing) but on their own site the front and back feet have different part numbers, and the one I have looks like it would be a perfect match for the front foot.

Personally I think they just sent me the wrong one, but I just wanted a sanity check. 😉

They are for sure not the same front and back you have the wrong foot 🙂 I’m confident if you tried it on the other end it will fit perfect. You need to ask them to swap it for you.

Heard back and ugh, of course they don't have the correct one.
So I'm back to square 1. there's a couple of complete machines on ebay, maybe they'll part out.

Unless someone here has one they don't want anymore? 🙂

Which foot do you actually have? I may be willing to trade you, I think I have a spare bottom foot that is the wrong side for my machine as well.

Are there part numbers on those feet? I purchased a set of 4 handles for one of my B&W G3's ages ago because 2 were broken so I should have 2 left.

the one I need should be 922-3696, but I dunno if they mold that into the plastic.

There’s a set of G4 handles on eBay - they’re the clear style instead of the frosted style, and I’m not sure if they’re the same fit, but thought I’d mention it:

One is a top in good condition and the other is a bottom with some internal cracks (but solid). Nothing written on them. The bottom looks like yours (one side has a triangle missing).

I think my unit fell off a desk backwards and broke the back 2 handles.

@CC_333 has a G3 that he's thinking about parting out.


@mdeverhart Yeah, they work fine. My machine has the G4 plastics on it. Looks a little different having everything clear, instead of cloudy.
