DigiDesign AUDIOMEDIA 1 - Anyone know where I can find a manual?
Posted by: NeshireChoir on 2022-03-10 05:18:07
Hey Folks,
It's been a while since I last posted here. I have recently acquired a DigiDesign AUDIOMEDIA 1 (The one with the honking great big DSP on the end) and while I have been able to find drivers, I haven't been able to find any documentation whatsoever.

Can anyone point me to some forgotten corner of the web that I haven't been to that has them?

Cheers!

Chesh

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I've been looking for the manual for AudioMedia II - I could only find the one for III and onwards when I did some searching.

Well hopefully we'll find both :-D

I have an Audiomedia II kit with original software, etc. I'm pretty sure it also came with the manuals. I'll check.

I would also like to know more about the audio media II. How many simultaneous channels can be recorded? 4 can be recorded on the AM III when using both analogue and digital inputs, not sure if that would be supported on the earlier model though

4 tracks I think.

Just got one of these cards in a IIci project. Did you ever have any luck finding the manual?

I have the manual to one of them at home. If I remember tonight (it's now 07h23), I'll set about to get it scanned as a PDF with OCR'd text and put it online on the Macintosh Garden.

Archive.org is where I tend to put scanned stuff these days, as I have full confidence it will exist in another 30 years time.

True. Archive.org has served me well in the past.

I have found it.
Here is a quick scan of the cover.

If you could stick it up, that would be awesome! (I don't even know what port does what on the back 🙂 )

This should help for the moment.

Did you have a chance to check? We've found the manual for AudioMedia I, so now just II is missing. 🙂

Just to check, I don't have a manual but have experience using the AudioMedia II... is there anything you'd specifically want to know up front? This is from the digidesign website :

If you are looking to use one for System sound, its possible, but a mess. You have to use a very precise set of drivers (very specific versions of digiinit and a special Sound Manager extension), and even when you get it working, it only plays sounds correctly if they're the same samplerate as the card is set to. Playing an 11khz sound while set to 44khz results in a heavily distorted mess. Normally this is dealt with more elegantly.
