Installing 8x OWC 16MB SIMMs in SE/30
Posted by: PacificState on 2022-03-08 21:02:11
I have 8 x 16MB OWC 30-pin SIMMS I'd like to use with my SE/30. Unfortunately, even though they're lower in height than the ROM SIMM it came with, I find that the last SIMM snags consistently on the metal lip of the cage above it as I insert the motherboard and comes loose.

Questions:

- Is there anything I can do to avoid this?

- If not, are there lower profile 16MB SIMMs available new that *do* fit?

- It says elsewhere that 4x16MB in Bank A is not a supported configuration, which I can confirm - however, this *does* work with a Rominator SIMM installed. I'm intending to use this machine with a Carrera 040 card, though - will that clash with the Romainator?

Thanks!

What are the physical dimensions of the sims? When you insert the mb, do you place it in the cutouts and swivel it in?

I have both a set of Keystrons and Purpleram, both fit without issue.

Curious if you got this to fit with all 8 OWC Simms as this is what I'm planning to do with my SE/30. Thanks.
