Too quiet. I discovered both the top and bottom fans not on. I turned it off and back on, the bottom one immediately came on, but the top one (Big on on AC power block) is still.
1. Gonna say it is totally dead? I oiled it when I had the thing apart, worked and has been on for hours every day with no issue.
2. What should it be replaced with, another one or is there a new one that would drop in?
3. I thought it was supposed to be on all the time, or am I wrong and it only turns on when it gets hot or prints? It spins freely so is not seized.
Does anyone have an original they would want to sell? | Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-03-03 09:53:29 False alarm, man now I feel dumb. Took the cover off and observed, the fan kicks on as soon is the printer starts to process a print job and pull the paper in, stays on after the print is done for 10 seconds, then shuts off.
Now ya know | Posted by: beachycove on 2022-03-03 10:26:10 You mean it’s silent when idle? Wow. Wish the later LaserWriters were designed that way! | Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-03-03 10:30:01 Nope, this one isn't totally silent. Since cleaning/oiling the fans and leaving it on for hours a day, it seems to re-"broken" the fans in and it is pretty quiet. There is a, I guess you could call it low hum from the bottom fan.
Definitely clean any fans and oil any in your LaserWriter, and try leaving it on for a full day to break in the fans. | | 1 |
