| Floppy Emu and copy errors | |
| Posted by: tekkned on 2022-03-01 04:37:08 After mounting several disk images and copying them (mounted content) to my system (7.5.5. - SE/30 )from my stock memory card that I got from BigMessOWires. I get several error messages from "Finder". Like "Sorry, a system error occured. Finder. Address Error". Or a Bus error. The system halts and when I'm lucky I can use the restart option. Most of the time I have to shutdown the Mac. Any idea's what might be happening? So it reads and copies until a certain point. Some files are on the HDD. Even games that work via floppy but can't be copied it seems. Weird? Or? | |

The floppyemu comes flashed for Apple II I believe, as I had to flash mine to use it with an SE. Have you tried reinstaling the latest macintosh firmware? | |
| Posted by: tekkned on 2022-03-01 06:52:51 This SCSI2CF supports hardware termination. Initially it did not work with the termination on (ID unknown at the time). So I removed the terminator and it booted. So I presume(d) this works. HDD boots, so no problem. Until I read something about problems with not terminating the device properly. Secondly concerning the Floppy Emu. I'm not sure. The .dsk images can be mounted and games e.g. will run. Like 'defender of the crown'. But copying 'defender of the crown' contents from the mounted floppy partially works. It stops in the middle of the copy process. Saying that I would almost presume it's a problem on the HDD side. Game's run but transferring and thereby storing it on HDD does not (at least partially work). | |
| Posted by: Skate323k137 on 2022-03-01 07:36:49 It really should be terminated, SCSI can act very weird otherwise. But I have never used a SCSI2CF, only various SCSI2SD versions. Have you formatted the volume using the patched HD SC Setup? I would re-install the firmware of the floppyEMU. It is set up for Apple II from the seller. Reinstalling firmware sounds harder than it is, but basically you just copy 2 files to the SD, Plug the thing into your Mac for power, and follow two sets of button press sequences in the included Readme. When you turn on the Floppyemu though, especially if you go into options, it should display what mode it is in. Regardless though, reinstalling the latest firmware and ensuring it is in Macintosh/Lisa firmware is a very easy step to rule that out. | Posted by: tekkned on 2022-03-01 23:29:52 Well, the bootprocess works with ID on 2. But I discovered that the floppy drive was blocked. Tried to insert a floppy and it got stuck. Semi-removed it by 'force' and the ejection mechanism. But now the system seems to think that there is a floppy still inside. So bootprocess is slower due to the check it does (shows floppy with cross) and prompts me an option after it booted from HDD to format an 3,5" floppy which is not there. I'm thinking of cutting the power of the floppy because I'm not using it. I wonder if that would help - I'm not in need of it anyway. And later have a look at it. Maybe the head is stuck or something. Funny thing was - the entrance seemed mis-aligned. An I could hardly get it in. And there were two pins sticking out on either side of the entrace. | |
