| Fresh LC III+ logic board courtesy of max1zzz :) |
Posted by: djhaloeight on 2022-02-22 13:37:32 Received my LC III+ logic board back from Max today! It had died awhile back from what I assumed was a power surge/brownout, but actually turned out to be trace rot. Max transferred the components from my logic board over to one of his new production boards. It looks amazing! Gonna get it back in its case today and fired up. Also received some VRAM modules today from Siliconinsider, and they should match the purple logic board nicely 🙂 |

This man obviously has superior hot air skills far beyond most of us... Man it looks like Apple themselves assembled the board. lol |
Posted by: max1zzz on 2022-02-22 17:47:26 Oooh, so much purple goodness 🙂
This man obviously has superior hot air skills far beyond most of us... The board was mostly hand soldered, I ended up finding this was actually easier than using a stencil + paste + hot air |
Posted by: LaPorta on 2022-02-22 18:54:30 Just "drew" the solder on the pins of the ICs? |
Posted by: joshc on 2022-02-22 19:35:49 Looks beautiful, amazing work as usual @max1zzz
@djhaloeight do you want a purple BlueSCSI to go with it? This homebrew version is altered to fit better in Macs and most importantly it's purple. I've got all the parts here so I can build one for you and send it over, PM me if it's of interest.

Just "drew" the solder on the pins of the ICs? Yep, all the IC's where drag soldered

Posted by: techknight on 2022-03-16 11:57:19 Nice! Not that indifferent than using a pick and place with a glue nozzle and wave soldering the SMD side. ive seen that done many times |
Posted by: alectrona6400 on 2022-03-16 12:02:40 I SERIOUSLY mistook that board for some sort of prototype board. Personally if I were to do that it would just end up in my long track record of screwups... |
