video quality IIe

Hi everyone,

I have restored an Apple IIe, I added the pics and documented the restoration in the forum, but they all got lost in the DB failure.
Anyhow, I used a composite to VGA adapter to connect an LCD, I only have the native phosphor monitor and I want to preserve it.
The screen is really of low quality, is it due to the adapter I used or it's something it can not be improved?
(the cable is shielded)

Is your IIe a Pal version or the US NTSC one ?

Above the switch for b&w/Color, my own Pal unit has two pots for correction, have you got a similar setup on yours ?

Hi mate,
I have a Pal version.
The two pots simply adjust the color tone, there is no effect on the flickering.
I tried the carrier adjustment screw, close to the quartz, and the image improved quite dramatically.

Still the are bands and the flickering is not completely gone.

Can it be some defective passive?
Maybe the quartz itself? I do not have an oscilloscope and probably I'll not be able to use it 🙂
