replacement PRAM battery for Macintosh se
Posted by: mloret on 2022-02-11 10:03:30
Hello! I don't have a battery leak, but I am wondering where I can find a replacement PRAM battery for my SE? I jus bought the computer and I'm not sure of its history.

I’ve had luck with ordering them on Amazon

Were these the soldered ones or do I have to modify board?

they're standard drop-in 1/2 AA batteries

When I did my SE it was a solder axial 1/2 AA

Older SEs have the battery soldered in, later models had a holder for it. You'll likely have to check it yourself - even if it was originally soldered, someone may have put a holder in for it at some point.

I just solder in 1/2 AA holders in all my originally axial motherboards.

Holders are great for these. I used to do a lot of CPS2 "suicide batteries" which are the same axial 1/2 AA and soldered in. Reason being on those you lose the encryption keys for the program roms, so I shy away from holders. Having a bunch of those on hand I just used one.
