| Where can I get parts for a Plus 1mb/how much do they cost? |
Posted by: linkthehero1234 on 2022-01-24 10:49:04 I got a gutted Mac Plus 1Mb from my school with only the case and CRT, how much would it cost me to get the parts to make it a full Mac and where do I buy them? |
Posted by: joshc on 2022-01-24 10:51:26 So I guess you are missing the logic board and internal floppy drive? Does it have the internal chassis that the floppy drive/logicboard attach to?
Honestly I'd say at this point, unless you get lucky with finding some parts on eBay, another spare Plus is where you would find parts.
However, put up a Trading Post on this forum and somebody may have some spares they could ship to you. Whereabouts are you located? |
Posted by: linkthehero1234 on 2022-01-24 10:52:05 Forgot to say, I found a cheap motherboard but no analog board, floppy drive, or other parts |

Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-01-24 11:02:42 Honestly, unless you are dead-set on keeping/making it a full Mac, I would just get a complete one. Going by eBay prices, you're going to spend $50 on an analog board, $50-$75 on a logic board, $50+ for a floppy drive, plus more on little stuff if it needs it like screws. Or you could spend $50-$100 on a complete Plus (without extras). |

Ok, would it be possible to turn this one into an external monitor? Not easily and not without the logic board to drive the CRT.
Why don't you open up the mac and show what you actually DO have. I might be interested in it if you'll let it go pretty cheap. |
Posted by: LaPorta on 2022-01-24 11:34:01 I would think a better idea is to do the inverse: buy a complete one, and keep this one for parts. |
Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2022-01-24 11:42:02 Now if you had a logic board and drive but not analog or CRT, you could wait for @aeberbach and their neat LCD hack. |

Posted by: cheesestraws on 2022-01-24 12:42:48 Where are you, approximately? |

FS Mac Plus system components
You'll have to see if they are willing to part it out. |

Where are you, approximately? California |
Posted by: volvo242gt on 2022-01-24 13:29:59 I'd get in touch with @tafkar and see if they'd be willing to ship their Plus to you. Swap the bucket and front panel from yours if those parts are better to his machine's chassis, install a working floppy drive, then go from there. |
