So, the left side display hinge on my PowerBook 5300ce gave out and cracked off recently. After taking it apart to investigate, the display wasn't working properly anymore. I just got around to taking a closer look and the LCD cable is cracked... I guess the stress of the broken hinge was too much for the poor thing.
I'm guessing that finding a replacement cable specifically from a CE screen is going to be next to impossible, so does anyone know if I could substitute a cable from a cs/c/b&w 5300? | Posted by: LaPorta on 2021-12-30 18:54:29
I don't have a 5300, but I can tell you that on my 1400 models, the c and cs have cables with the same connector, but NOT the same wires in them. Likely, they are not interchangable on the 5300 as well, I would think. | Posted by: 3lectr1cPPC on 2021-12-30 19:16:39

Oh well, I guess the 5300ce is going to be out of commission for a good while if that's the case.

No it's different from my rustic memory - I recall that there were 3 different cables for the display in 190/5300 series.
