Plus MB in a IIgs case hack

I stole this from the Apple Macintosh Enthusiasts FB group.

Any ideas how they did the video?

It's hard to say. It looks like they could've done the circuit point-to-point without a board, because if you look carefully, I think you can see some balls of electrical tape where some of the necessary components might be hidden.

That's just a casual observation, though.

The heck is going on with that power supply hookup?  Is that the original IIGS PS?

It looks like it. I'm not sure that even would work, but I guess it could if either 1) the pinout happens to be similar, or 2) the pins in the IIgs' PSU connector were rearranged.

What puzzles me is the keyboard connector. They left it inside, and they didn't bother to run a cable or some sort of extension outside the case (maybe that's because it's not finished?)

There is the hole in the lower right front where you stick the keyboard cable through 🙂

Haha I see the hole now. It's even labelled "k'brd"

Uni,

That's just a handmade TTL adapter:

Are those modified molex plugs holding the Logic Board in place?

Holy crap! I didn't even notice that one, I guess somebody really needed a budget mac...

I love stuff like this.

So I wonder what monitor was used, and how it interfaced.

Why not ask on the group where this turned up?

Posted by: uniserver on 2016-04-17 04:18:10
it was in a lot of stuff one of the members bought from some fellow.

Found another similar hack

but yeah you need to talk to the guy who owned it, I think it will only work with one type of monitor. Maybe the IIGS one? Probably not...

Pretty sure you just need a TTL monitor that you may have to modify....

That looks like one of the build-your-own-Mac kits.  They used to sell them.  Had instructions for building a Macintosh compatible computer from scratch.  It was a few hundred dollars cheaper than buying a new one.

EGA monitors can be made to work with an adapter circuit and some other fudging.

massive upgrade for a pretty useless apple IIgs lol....

IIgs isn't useless... it played all my games twice as fast. 😀
