| SE/30 ps identification |

I have an SE/30 that has had a logic board recap, but nothing more. It is working, but the screen is slightly distorted until the machine warms up (3-4 mins.), so I figure it’s time I recapped the analog board and power supply.
Before I order parts, I have a dumb question: how do I identify the ps brand (Sony, Aztec, Apple Singapore)? Does the machine need to be stripped down to get a look at the ps pcb, or is some easier approach possible? |

Mine all have the manufacturer written on the case of the PSU. You might be able to see it with the back of the machine off without taking any boards out at all: failing that, it'll become obvious when you remove the AB. You don't need to open the PSU, at least in my experience. |

I THINK Sony ones have a black colored plug/outlet in the back + black switch, and Astec is white, but I am not sure. As cheesestraws said, it will be clearly displayed on the side of the PSU on a sticker. Sony ones are generally longer lasting from what I hear.
If you take off the back bucket, you should see the brand sticker. |

Yeah, the colour of switch and connector is not a reliable guide, unfortunately. |

The Sony part has a better quality metal enclosure, and ?aluminium top cover with cheese grater holes on the top.
Aztec and Apple Singapore come in simpler tin sheet enclosures. |

This is all helpful, and good news, as I want to keep the machine in use while waiting for the parts to arrive — easy identification means the tear-down need only be done once. |
