Can someone run this Drive Setup patch for me?
Posted by: chemdream on 2016-04-11 06:23:25
I have an LC 575 I'm trying to get an SCSI2SD working on.

I don't have any other macs (on the net) to use to patch my Drive Setup so I can format any disk.

Do you think any of you fine people could, and attach the resulting file to this forum?

Can you transfer a file from your modern computer to your LC using a floppy?

If so I would recommend using Lido to format the SCSI2SD. You don't need to patch anything.

That's the software I used with my SCSI2SD. It works great.

Oooh. I'll give this a try. Thanks!

Welp, I finally got to this. All I have is an Ubuntu desktop with a floppy. For the life of me, I can't get Lido written to a floppy. Whether I format the floppy on my mac, or in Ubuntu, it won't mount with write privileges. Has anyone successfully done this?

Can you remount it as read-write? http://askubuntu.com/questions/175739/how-do-i-remount-a-filesystem-as-read-write

I know nothing about Ubuntu. I know how to transfer stuff from a Windows machine to a Mac though.

I own a Mac but I have to use a windows box to transfer files... I never managed to do it properly on OSX...

Yeah, it still just mount read only. Even using remount,rw...

I got this going...

installed Windows 7 on Virtualbox.

installed a trial of MacDisk on that.

converted the lido hqx to sea

copied it with macdisk

It worked like a charm!

Wish this was easier on linux!

Good to hear it worked out!

Yeah it can be way easier on linux IF you know the correct steps!

Things can get very hard very fast. For example, if you want to create a Floppy Emu compatible 400k MFS disk (Disk Copy 6 won't work), you need to create a DC6 image first in OS9, then mount it in MiniVMac Mac Plus, then download a blank 400k MFS and copy the contents of the DC6 image onto the blank.

I haven't found an easier way yet. But like your method, it just works for now. And that's the most important thing  :b&w:

Should be their slogan.

+1000 😎

Damn even getting nVidia cards working on Linux is hard!

Just joking of course 😉

By the way, did you manage to format the SCSI2SD using Lido?
