SE/30 screen wobbling
Posted by: mc9625 on 2016-04-11 04:11:52
On my second SE/30 I've noticed that sometimes the screen seems "wobbling" if I give a little bump with the hand on the side of case. Actually this problem almost disappear after a while. I guess if this could be a symptom of something more serious.

Might want to check the A/B for cracked solder joints.

Mine does the same. Had the PSU Re-capped and it didn't change anything.

It is analog board related. But my guess would be dodgy caps on the AB itself (fluctuating voltage).

After it warms up, it doesn't wobble anymore.

BTW, where exactly does yours wobble? It only happens on the right hand side of the screen on mine. And no it's not floppy related, it also happens without any HD or floppy activity.

Edit: Might be bad ground as well. Check the green and yellow wire connected to the chassis. Make sure it is properly attached. If you have taken your SE/30 apart it can do that.

Unplug and inspect the connection between the analog board and the deflection yoke. I often find at least one of the pins makes poor contact with the socket, heats up and aside form oxidizing the hell out of both it cooks the plastic fittings. You can clean it up with a bit of sand paper, some tweezers to close the spades int eh socket and some dielectric grease to reduce the oxidization.
