Floppy 1.44M and Macintosh 512k
Posted by: thiagofalencar on 2021-12-13 09:37:23
Hi everyone, I got a macintosh 512k and I want to use a floppy drive. I cannot get the 800k floppy, so can I use 1.44M instead of 800k? I know that the floppy will not use all the storage, but does someone know if it will work?

Yes, a Sony autoinject 1.4 MB drive will work perfectly, but only read/write the 800ks.

Just to clarify to me, the Sony auto inject is the original Macintosh 512k floppy drive?

If yours is a 512ke that reads 800k disks normally, then yes. If it is a 512k that has only a 400k drive, then no. Do you have some photos so that we can see?

Of course, this is my version.

A shot of the rear with the model, and possibly internal pics would be the best.

Sorry, my fault... Do you think that now we can discover?

At this point it only says 512k, not 512ke.....if it had the e, it would be no doubt 800k. However, can't be sure with this. You'll have to open her up.
