Do I need to Recap my iMac?
Posted by: EmNem543 on 2021-12-07 19:36:02 My iMac (1999 DV SE) has been having some issues driving the CRT. sometimes it has a severe screen tear when idle and after running for a while the CRT refuses to wake from sleep, although I can hear it trying. Sometimes when turning it on, only the Green light (No HDD, no Fan) on the power button turns on and I can hear high-voltage kick-in just for a split second. Are these just symptoms of an Analog Board in need of a Recap? Any help is appreciated!
Posted by: Daniël on 2021-12-07 23:39:32 Is it making zapping/arcing noises? In that case, the flyback transformer is most likely internally shorting out. It would have to be replaced to fix the issue.
