Original PowerMac G5: Accessories?
Posted by: LaPorta on 2021-12-05 12:03:27
I have my dad's G5 that I want to use again at some point. Thankfully, it is a rather plain-jane, single core model without all the leaky liquid coolant nonsense. My question is this: what keyboard and mouse did it originally ship with? My dad always used these custom jobs instead of the factory ones, and I can't remember what it shipped with. Can anyone fill me in?

A1048 Keyboard and the M5769 Mouse. Very late G5 models would have shipped with the Mighty Mouse.
The wireless versions of both the keyboard and mouse would have been an option, but I'm not sure if you could get a G5 that came with the wireless versions or if you had to buy them separately.

If you went for the full effect, you could try to find the wifi antenna : P

I actually have that WiFi antenna with it! Not certain about the Bluetooth...

Mine has the WiFi antenna but not the Bluetooth - it definitely does help with signal. If you want to go full in, get a first gen Aluminum Cinema Display, an iSight Camera, and you’ll be looking at a sweet setup for OS X PowerPC stuff. I love my G5. Just hope to god you’ll never have to replace the motherboard…

What sucks is the PCIE G5 had both antennas built in but the card and mounting were optional and rare these days.

I've actually got the 23" Aluminum Display that it came with....but it currently is doing faux iMac duty, with a Mac mini velcroed to its back as my wife's computer. Someday I will repatriate it.
