powerbook 5300c broken screen

so i have a 5300c with a broken screen and i am looking to see if i should replace it (no screens available right now) or just get a better powerbook model from the same time period. your help will be of great use


(whoops, posted in the wrong category. i seriously keep thinking these run 68k chips)

reminder: if they have 4 numbers in the name (9150, 2300) they're PowerPC, If they have no numbers or 3 numbers (475, 520) they're 68k

You could use the display port and run it with a VGA monitor.

I’ve one just like yours 🙂 seems the screens are a week point, I did test it with an external monitor and it works fine but also kinda defeats the whole laptop vibe. Based on parts available and how boring the 5300 is I’d probably go for a different machine from the same period.

Yeah, I agree. I have a 190cs and a 5300cs (which have the same display) with the same issue - broken display cable... right at the same spot too. The 190cs is interesting to me as Apple's last 68k machine, but the 5300 is pretty meh, unless it's the ce maybe.
