Broken Powerbook 160 LCD flex cable
Posted by: adzq88 on 2021-10-26 09:09:24
Hi!

After getting some old Powerbooks from different sources, I started a project to fix these old laptops. One laptop is a Powerbook 160. It chimes when I power it on but gives no image due to the broken LCD ribbon cable.

First, I need to find a replacement LCD ribbon cable for this Powerbook 160 laptop. The original flex cable between the LCD unit and the motherboard became damaged in the hinge area of the laptop. Also, the ribbon cable got torn somehow.

I'm looking for a replacement for the broken cable. So far I haven't been able to find any spare parts from eg. eBay and other old-stock places. Is there anyone who could help to find a proper intact cable?

I have a cable from an old (very, very broken) Powerbook 145. It looks just like the one on my Powerbook 160. I can't see any damage on it. However, I'm struggling with my 160 (see my post here: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/pb-160-sound-keeps-failing.45927/) and I might need it. If not, you can have it. Cheers, Karl

@Phipli this may be of interest to you? If you’re still looking to get that PB145 up and running.
