Power supplies in Japanese origin machines

Do the power supplies in the Japanese market Macs from the early 90's work on US power specs?

I just got a Color Classic II that survived the trip intact and also had one hell of a nice surprise inside that I'll post about elsewhere, but at the moment I can't get it to power on. It left Japan in working order save for a failed HDD, but I can get it to turn on at all, and I'm wondering if it might require a stepdown transformer or something?

The Color Classics must be turned on by the keyboard. Did you try this?

Most Mac power supplies are rated for 100-230 volts AC. So, I would hit the power key on the keyboard after plugging it in and making sure that the power switch on the back is turned on.

And if it doesn't respond... check the PRAM battery... if that reads 3V or more... probably time for a re-cap...

Color Classics have universal auto switching power supplies so they can be used with US mains voltage.

Excellent, thanks for the notes everyone. I'll pop the cover off this weekend and poke around for anything obvious. I tried the keyboard soft-power key, but it didn't do anything either when the power supply was switched on.

I've been meaning to make a conquests page for a long time, so I may do that this weekend as a stress release from a mountain of work BS that's driven me slowly mad.

The outcome of which will probably be sorting out which machines I want to keep and which ones need to go before my wife kills me.

Well, nothing obvious brings it to life. When I flip the power switch I hear a very faint little "squee" sound for a split second, but that's all.

The caps looked a little bulged.

Hoping to get this little guy working because the case is in good shape, save for being yellowed a bit, and more importantly it came with this little guy inside as a surprise.

The caps should be recapped asap on LB and AB!
