Lombard pram battery availability?
Posted by: mori512k on 2016-04-04 17:30:46
Couldn't find anything recent here, but, seems my pram battery has died.

There doesn't seem to be anyone with new replacements. Either out of stock or no longer available.

I'm hoping there will be more new ones made, however, it could be that no one will be making them any more.

Has anyone made a new one? Is there more to it than just a pair of batteries and a connector?

Can we open up the old one and replace the batteries?

You can make it yourself - using the old connector:

"PowerBook G3 Clock Battery

4 cell rechargeable lithium coin battery assembly which is specifically designed for Apple PowerBook FireWire (M7712LL/A), G3 Series (1999, 2000 models), G3 Bronze Keyboard, G3 FireWire, G3 Lombard, G3 Lombard, G3 Pismo series laptop and notebook computers."

"The Lombard uses a 6V Lithium battery, which consists two 2 x 3V cells. You could however make your own PRAM battery from any sort of NiMH/NiCD cells, and shove it somewhere in the case - perhaps on top of the hard disk or near the modem card."

"Wallstreet + Pismo / Lombard:

You need VL2330 cells, which are not the sort of things you buy from camera shops and supermarkets. They can, however, be bought from specialist suppliers for relatively little, and even appear on eBay from time to time if the usual electronics suppliers do not take your fancy. They can also helpfully be found with soldering tabs if you take the trouble to look for them."

You should get them much cheaper.
