Scored an SE/30 with a video card on buyee

When I got my CCII and the Presto Plus upgrade for it I thought it would be enough for me to use it as my main dev machine and decided to pass my SE/30's Radius Pivot card over to someone else who would use it. A few months passed and the need for a 640x480 resolution appeared and I was on the lookout for a video card for my se/30. Just ordered a Performa Plus monitor a few days ago when I started looking more seriously for a new video card.

Today while browsing buyee I came across an SE/30 listing at 370$ which isn't a bad price. However, it has a video card which, with import taxes and shipping puts the total price at around 550$. Coupled with the fact that it has a decent keyboard (hopefully not in japanese but hey, I am in dire need of backup keyboards) and a video card the price isn't too bad. I saw cards going for 370$ alone.

This is the listing I just purchased: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/r1007975830

Now to wait 2 weeks to get my hands on it. Together with the carrera 040 from Bolle and the Mac Con + the performa plus monitor - my SE/30 setup is about to become my main retro development station again.

I'll probably sell the extra SE/30 to recoup some cash so if anyone is in the EU and interested in it - let me know.

Not sure what card it is tbh, but if it can do 640x480, even in grayscale, I'll be happy!

Likely an Interware video card, its a popular accelerator/video card brand in Japan. The silver back w slight bronze DB15 looks like my GrandVimage and other Vimage cards I've seen.

It is indeed an Interware video card. Apparently it can do up to 2K resolution! I'll do a write up tomorrow, but the card is working in my SE/30! Sadly, the other one that arrived seems to have a bad case of simasimac. I'll take it apart in the weekend and see if I can get it booting, though I wouldn't have too much faith in it. Board needs a recap, I removed the battery at least.

Nice congrats! Is it a Grand Vimage 24-16s? Didn't realize they could go to 2k res - I don't have a monitor to test at the moment.

It is a Grand Vimage 24 but I don't remember/know what's after the dash. Gonna open up the SE/30 this weekend anyway so I'll check then.

@BacioiuC -Did your video card end up being a Grand Vimage 24-16? I've got one myself in my SE/30, the thing is sweet!

Yep, same one! Even drives a Portrait Display, no problems!
