Got a bit of info from a friend who only goes for vintage PCs to check out an estate sale and hit the room upstairs that no one seemed to be going into. Picked her up for $20.
Want to get things organized before I try making sure it powers on, but hopefully I'll have good news on the life of this Quadra later today. |

There’s a Truevision card I’m trying to identify right now with 2 daughter cards, 1 adding S-Video in and Out and the second containing what appears to be still image processing chips, one was labeled LSI JPEG CODER. There’s also a bank of 4 slots for 64 pin memory sticks. I’ve got to convert my phone photos to work on the forum but I’ll post soon. |

Treuvision Targa 2000 Nubus. The 2 round connectors are for video and audio IN and OUT. Very nice card but the connectors are impossible to find if not with the card. I have one with cables. |

There are two kinds of ATTO SiliconExpress IV/4 cards: LVD & HVD. If I remember correctly, the IV is the LVD version and the 4D is the HVD version. The HVD version will destroy your LVD drives, or, at least, this is what I have been lead to believe. HVD drives are also hard to find.
Congrats, btw, on the elusive bezel with the SyQuest drive. You should be able to put a SCSI CD-RW in there.

Actually HVD was just called Differential SCSI when it came out so be careful what you plug into anything called that. Once lower voltages were used they started calling them LVD and HVD.
I guess the higher voltage allowed for much longer runs of cable. |

Is that GWorld RAM on that card? I'm unfamiliar with the name so I'm not sure if it's a brand or some type of RAM, markings on it read 64 on the left edge, 1 on the right, with SMART SMAP04 turned on its side on the 64 side of the stick. Chips themselves are marked OKI Japan MSI4400c-70SJ 44655199A9Z.
edit: found it referenced in a 950 thread on macrumors, and up until I get this thing running where I can dig into what each card is exactly, I'm still unsure what the response is to your question. I MAY try installing the cards one by one on my Quadra 700 to see if I can get some TattleTech info on each one. |

I still haven't been able to figure out how to properly get it to boot from my BlueSCSI, this is the first Mac I've owned with a multiple connection SCSI cable, and I don't know where I should have the Active Terminator in the chain if I'm trying to boot it without the SyQuest drive connected. The connectors are marked A-D. |

Thanks for all the advice on identifying the cards in there. The video card ended up being a TrueVision TARGA 2000.
I am still having issues getting everything to work using the cable that came inside of the 950, but using a single device cable with my Blue mounted out of the way I was able to get it up and running last night. I've got a new multi-device cable coming my way this week so hopefully I'll be able to get the Syquest drive working with everything else. It was definitely a rush to see it boot up properly last night, and I'm eager to get everything put together. In the period since I made this thread I moved the Targa 2000 over to my Q700 and set it up with an NEC LCD, it felt pretty cool to have a gigantic desktop space on a machine that's 30 years old. |

The Targa 2000 is probably the best video grabber for Nubus outside of a high end AVID system (probably using the same card but with DSP encoders attached). Are you going to find or make the in/out cables for it? |

I honestly don't have any intended use for the video grabber, it'd be a nice exercise in just slightly older tech than what I cut my teeth on in college when taking film making classes, but isn't super high on my priorities list. If I came across the cables/ felt up to the task of wiring up a set of them I might try and create a period correct short, but until that day, I'm just using it as a second video card that happens to give me millions of colors at 1152 x 870. Now you've got my mind brainstorming on what kind of video I'd want to make using period correct gear where possible. |

Is that GWorld RAM on that card? I missed this, but yes they are. You can use 2 sticks on a Supermac Thunder/24 to max it out (2 empty slots). Years ago I purchased some junk AVID cards just for the SIMMs which are pretty much only used by a few programs. |

I have a Thunder/24 w/ DSP upgrade that I'd LOVE to upgrade with some GWorld SIMMs, or see about having some fabricated, but I've never found any in the wild. Even inoperable ones. |
