| From a Macintosh Hard Disk 20 (M0135) to a disk image for an emulator? |

I've been tinkering with my older sister's old Mac Plus a bit. She had some writing projects that only ever existed on that machine that she was afraid she might never see again.
Her old Hard Disk 20 booted right up when I connected it to my Plus, and I copied the contents of the drive to a folder on my BlueSCSI SD.
But is there a way to make an image of this drive that I can boot up in say Mini vMac?
If it were a SCSI drive the path would be clear -- I would just connect it to a Linux box and use dd.
But this is the OG weirdware that connects to the floppy connector.
I never got super technical with the old macs back in the day so I just don't have the background knowledge here. |

It occurred to me, the most straightforward way to do this would be to follow the same steps someone would have taken in the early 90's when upgrading from one of these odd drives to a scsi drive. Just with a blank drive image on my bluescsi.
But, what would that be? I am a bit of a macos dunce. |

Can't the later (v6.?) version of DiskCopy create a HD "image"? If so, plug the HD 20 into your Plus and run DiskCopy to "image" it. You'll then need to figure out how to get that "image" off the Plus/BlueSCSI. Another method would be to use Stuffit on the folder - that will create one "file" you can transfer... |

Another thought... when you boot from the HD20, does it "see" the BlueSCSI? If so, then why not do what you were thinking?... put a "blank" image on your BlueSCSI, boot from the HD20, select all and drag the HD20 contents to your "blank" image... |

Yeah, it does. That was how i got some files off it.
That works? That sounds like a reasonable way to go then. I'll give it a shot. |
