I recently acquired a DaynaFile with a 5.25" 360k drive in it. Due to some corrosion, I depopulated most of the controller board for cleaning and socketing, and to replace the pin headers.
Since it is (mostly) depopulated, with all the board redesigns happening (SE, SE/30, Classic, LC III...), is this something people would like a go at? I took photos with the original jumper settings prior to removing things, and I bought an EPROM programmer with the intent to dump the ROM (v3.1). The board itself is revision 2.1.
I can remove the last handful of components and do hi-res scans if someone is interested. Seems to be 4-layer.

Posted by: bdurbrow on 2021-09-08 05:21:26 You are sufficiently close that you might as well go all the way... who knows when an opportunity like this will come up again. Also, when you put it back together again you will know that you've got all-new solder joints.
I don't see any thing there that would be difficult to deal with (like an ASIC); a reproduction should be fairly straightforward to do... |

Posted by: Iesca on 2022-03-21 16:33:24 And attached is a parts list! Some things are guesses or assumptions. In the case of RN1, it was destroyed in the process of removal, as was one of R2 and R3 (I was able to successfully remove one of them and measure it between the first and last pin).
If anyone makes any discoveries (mistakes, etc.), please let me know! |

Posted by: Iesca on 2022-03-22 00:36:13 Yet another parts list update! Googled some basic info on the different ICs, and reorganized a little bit of information.
I've also attached the datasheet for the floppy controller, SAB 2793B-P, as it was a bit hard to find. ("-P" appears to refer to the package type: Plastic DIP.)
EDIT: Also added some info on the various connectors and pin headers. |
