| LC475 startup disks. |
Posted by: Ben A on 2021-08-16 08:13:45 Hi all,
Could anyone help with a set of startup disks for my Mac LC475 please - old one I took in and just trying to get it back up into a running state.
A nice chap called Pete helped with a set of them but I've had to recreate my account and can't remember his username, and the first disk in the set seemed to go corrupt.
Thanks all. |

Are you looking for physical disks sent to you, or pointers as to where to download the images from to make your own disks?
If you're wanting disks to be sent to you, please advise where you are located. |
Posted by: Ben A on 2021-08-16 13:49:53 A physical disk set would be ideal, but pretty sure it's only the first one I'll need not the full set.
I'm in Lincoln, UK. |

Which OS do you want on your LC 475? Hi Joshc,
Just trying to get an OS onto the system so I can have a play around on it/check everything works. The original 250MB drive was knackered, I've obtained a 500MB Apple drive but it's blank.
The disks I was sent were OS 7.5 as I believe that's the best one to use on the LC475's?
I believe the OS disks I have here will work fine for installing - it's the disk tools set disk that seems to have corrupted.
Thanks. |
Posted by: cheesestraws on 2021-08-17 05:18:03 Do you have another machine with a 1.44 meg "normal" floppy drive in it? You don't need a Mac to write those, and you'll get it quicker. Otherwise I ought to be able to make up a disk tools disc for you. |

Happy to pay for your time/disk/postage though if you don't mind helping? Thanks 🙂 |
Posted by: cheesestraws on 2021-08-17 05:53:00 OK! Let me get home and check that my USB floppy drive is actually working—if it is, I'll make you one up 🙂. |

It's just a little retro project really, so no rush. Rather see it up and running again than sell it for spares/repairs and someone binning it! |

Posted by: CircuitBored on 2021-08-18 05:09:07 Hello, I'm the one who sent you the first batch of floppies! I'm sorry to hear that they've gone bad but glad that some of the UK MLAers have come to your aid. Floppies are sadly just too unreliable to depend upon for long. Best of luck with the 475! |
