| Installing OSX Tiger on upgraded Bondi |

I have an original 1998 iMac G3 Bondi with upgraded CPU card (366MHz G4 thanks to dosdude) and DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive. Trying to install OSX Tiger with XPostFacto, but for some reason it gives me a 🚫 sign after reboot. Weird thing is it will boot a Tiger DVD or CD with the normal startup key method. |

Couple of things to try
- Reset NVRAM, PRAM before booting, CUDA reset on motherboard
- Boot in verbose mode to see errors (hold down command + V at startup)
- Do the Open Firmware hack to misreport your CPU speed at 866Mhz +
- Check iMac last firmware is applied - 4.1.9
You also need to install Tiger on the first partition < 8GB (anything above that format as second partition); you might also have luck installing Tiger using another Mac and moving the hard disk over to your iMac G3. |

Verbose mode didn't work for some reason. Firmware 4.1.9 is for the slot-loading models, installer for the 1.2 firmware says it's already updated. I'll look into that OF hack but I suspect the problem was that I was trying to install on the second partition. Maybe I should just do a clean install of 10.3 and upgrade from that instead of OS 9. |

Yeah, I'd try a fresh reformat under OS 9.1. Both OSes can coexist on the same partition, but ideally have two separate. I wouldn't do a cross upgrade from 10.3 - you're adding too much pain! |
