Also hope they didn't arrive home with >half the cases left as splinters on the highway... that's all definitely something I'd put in my car, or pay a friend gas money to go with me... an unsprung trailer would not be my first choice. |

I am sure people with IIgs boxes are out there needing floppy drives and monitors. The printers are pretty much useless these days since few people want them.
I guess somebody else snagged all the IIgs systems long ago and sold them. |

I have mixed feelings about bulk floppies. Most of the ones I used to get were 5.25" floppies from C64 systems and quite a few had mold issues so I never used them. Original disks I love but while 5.25" disks seem reliable quite a few 1.44mb HD ones are not. I do have a bunch of home made Amiga disks in 3.5" DD that seem ok but I don't truist the contents anyway. |

I have one Imagewriter but don't use it. My collection does have a few printers in it but they rarely get used. |

Maybe I am alone, but I'd take the ImageWriters... I'd take it, if I had the room. If nothing else, it could be a backup or spare.
My ImageWriter II gets a lot of use, especially lately. It's the only functional printer I have right now... my modern Canon Pixma inkjet printer needs ink and the Apple Color StyleWriter 2500 I picked up back in April also needs ink. I've made absolutely no progress on getting the LaserWriter IIsc I picked up back in April working, either - sadly, since I was looking forward to having a functional laser printer to use with my vintage Macs for desktop publishing and the like.
The ImageWriter II is poor in comparison to today's printing technologies, obviously - since it is a dot matrix printer. But it's better than nothing, especially if all you need to print out is simple text documents. |

Just one. They're old enough, noisy enough and odd enough to be a good complement to any vintage Mac; but interesting due to their shortcomings and how far we've come. The Thunderscan print head is a good addition too.
That's a lot of floppies. I'm surprised Redditors are so excited about them; if poorly stored I'd hedge my bets 50 - 75% don't work and nobody needs more than a few boxes of blanks for the hobby. |

'pretty much useless' hmm have to wonder how that compares to that every thirty plus time I try to put down just $40-100 for one I always get outbidded and its not only ebay nor to do with post-mar2020
re disks and floppies, I don't really have any comment on floppies due to not being much into that sort of 8bit era myself but as for disks I guess I can see why sometimes pre-1.44mb ones might be collectible if still in working condition due to limited alternative options for file transfers on not-internet-outfitted vintage systems |

Neat haul, especially the machines there. I'm not interested in printers enough to collect them. However, I appreciate others may be interested in them and I'm glad some people want to save them.
Same for floppies, I have a few laying around but I only use them to test drives, I don't use them regularly and I wouldn't say I collect them really. |

I just hope that these imagewriters would end up somewhere else beside e-waste I cannot believe how well ImageWriter II's were made. It's more rare to find one that doesn't work than finding one that does. I've owned 2 or 3 over the years, and while loud and slow, they're so reliable. I'm surprised Apple only revised them once, seeing as they continued to sell tons of them, but maybe that's why they kept them the same.
Didn't Apple even create a GX driver for them? |

drachemitch would the 'revised them once' be likely related to the power supply being upgraded in name of efficiency rating? I don't know a lot about the imagewriters but this was one thing I had found out regarding people wanting specifically the latter power supply etc
(even then for me it doesn't really matter since I planned to swap in a different one with a certain capability) |
