| Mac SE stripped case screw advice |
Posted by: mrojas36 on 2021-07-19 07:38:25 Mac friends,
I had the good fortune of picking up a Mac SE SuperDrive over the weekend. It appears this was used by a local church. However, it has a curse - one of the top case screws is stripped. Apparently someone tried to get in there before.
I have screw extractors and other things at my disposal but wanted to tap the years of wisdom in this forum before embarking on any particular technique.
What would you do suggest?

Posted by: LaPorta on 2021-07-19 13:14:32 Very nice job! Now we need to see what you find inside 😉 |
Posted by: mrojas36 on 2021-07-19 14:03:31 Looks pretty clean. No battery leak! Original battery too. Radius FPD. 40MB hardrive. And a stuck System 7.1 diskette so I bet the auto eject gear needs replacing.

Posted by: Torbar on 2021-07-19 15:10:02 I have a bunch of spare compact case screws, so if you need a non-stripped one shoot me a DM with your address and I can drop one in the mail for you. |
Posted by: Torbar on 2021-07-19 15:11:11 Also, I'm not too familiar with the Radius FPD card, can it just hook up to a regular CGA monitor or something? Or was it a proprietary thing |
Posted by: mrojas36 on 2021-07-19 17:32:50 I am not familiar with this card either but it looks like it allowed an external monitor. Maybe one in portrait mode for word processing/publishing.
Anyone else know about this card? |
