How can I make custom keyboard layouts for Mac OS 9?

I’d like to make a slovak keyboard layout for my OS 9 iMac G3, but I don’t know how. Can I just copy a keyboard layout from the system suitcase and edit it with ResEdit?

In your situation, I would have thought that OS9 has a Slovak installer with the requisite keyboard resources included (and I would have looked for the multi-lingual CD/DVD installer), but otherwise, this third party page might help: http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/utilities_fonts_mac.html#unicodekeyboards

I don't think there are any slovak localizations for OS 9, since we started having localized software in mid-2000's, and if there is, the keyboard is most likely QWERTZ (to which I'm not used to). I'll probably see what I can do with the website you've sent me.  🙂
