LC 520 upgrade question
Posted by: LaPorta on 2020-11-07 20:49:51
I have an LC 520, and I was reading my nice copy of "Upgrading and Repairing Your Mac." It says inside that the 520 can be upgraded to a 575 via logic board swap. Further reading revealed that there is a PPC upgrade card for the 575. So my question is: could one then make a PPC-equipped 520 this way? Also, will the 575 accept the Apple IIe Card, and would it still work with the PPC upgrade, or does the upgrade plug into the LC Card Slot?

You can find some info here.

I found out that the PDS cards won't actually fit with the PPC Upgrade in place. No matter: I can put the IIe into my LCII. However, I'd love to find one of these 575 boards and a PPC upgrade card...

575 boards are becoming very rare and expensive. One closed today on eBay for over $200 in untested condition.
