Beige 56k Modem (Wings)
Posted by: rezwits on 2016-03-11 12:47:28
I have a question, I picked up a Beige 56k Modem, for the Personality (Wings) Card, but when I went to install the card, I found out things were going to be difficult.

I couldn't, with ease, remove the "key looking" plate where the Modem Jack ends up going.  I thought I would be able to just take out the card and pop that out and put the modem in.

Do I need some kinda special Apple Back Bezel/Panel Replacement for the modem upgrade?  I checked the manual and there is no mention of replacing the plate, or popping off the slitted cover either.

Anyone who may know of what is need to get this going would be helpful, thanks!

Otherwise I guess I'll just be using Geoport II...

but in 10.2.8 only the 56k works, I believe...

To install a modem card in a beige G3

First remove the personality card

Use a screwdriver to remove the modem slot cover

Insert the modem cards top lip into the opening and then press the card down into the slot

Reinstall the personality card and you're done

ah, thanks, I just didn't want to force the slitted cover that's on the wings card right now.  I used to "force" things back in the dark ages.   Learned too many lessons...
