Using a Classic analog board inside a Classic II
Posted by: MrFahrenheit on 2020-09-04 10:43:32
My friend was pining for a Classic II. He has two Classics. I offered to buy a non-working Classic II off eBay and try recapping it, and if successful I’d swap him for his working Classic (which I already recapped).

However, the Classic II motherboard works fine in a different Classic II case. Meaning the analog board in the Classic II I bought for him on eBay likely doesn’t work.

We’re now discussing options. My proposal (for now) is to open his Classic, remove the motherboard, install the Classic II motherboard, and use the Classic II rear shell, the original Classic front with the CRT and Classic analog board.

Will this work fine ?  Were there changes to the Classic II analog board or power supply that make this a bad idea?

Not at all.

Minor changes between the two, I have myself a Classic II board in a Classic case and have tested also the other way round.
