I recently got a hold of a Quadra 650 and need to change its caps asap. Does anyone know which caps are needed for it?
I'm going with tantalum caps but cant seem to find any reference on what voltage or capacitance they need to be.

| Posted by: EmmyOcelot on 2020-08-10 00:41:18 Oh score! I didn’t know after dealing with much trouble with a Quadra 610.
| Posted by: Daniël on 2020-08-10 01:59:49 Some of the Quadra models thankfully have tantalum capacitors from the factory. The 700, 800, 900, 950 and 650 have their logic boards fully populated with them. On the others, which are the 840AV, 660AV, 610, 630 and 605, they have caps in electrolytic form (although on most, not all of the caps, as on the 610 for example, other than the 16V 47uF caps, all of them are tantalums).
Yes, a downside of tantalums is that they can burn up if they short or fail, but it doesn't happen that often from what I can find, and often doesn't do much in the way of permanent damage, whereas a bad leak can be disastrous if it gets into vias.
