Posted by: galgot on 2016-02-28 14:50:02 Are there some Usb to adb adapters ? I know the griffin , have it, but that's adb to usb...

Posted by: Gil on 2016-02-28 16:34:11 Are you saying using USB devices on an ADB Macintosh?
|
Posted by: galgot on 2016-02-28 16:36:51 That's right.
|
Posted by: techknight on 2016-02-28 16:54:49 umm nope.

Posted by: Gil on 2016-02-28 17:20:44 Only USB device I can think of that work on an ADB Macintosh is the AlphaSmart 3000, via special adapter cable

Posted by: CC_333 on 2016-02-28 18:54:39 Techknight: I think bbraun was trying to make an adapter that would allow, at least, for one to use USB keyboards/mice with an ADB Mac. I don't remember if he was successful or not, although he did come up with a nice USB to ADB + 128k/512k/Plus adapter.

Posted by: waynestewart on 2016-03-02 17:43:18 You can get some USB mice to work with a Gee Three adapter plus a PS/2 to USB adapter.

Posted by: galgot on 2016-03-03 02:35:24 Thanks! Will check that.

Posted by: matacao on 2016-03-03 08:47:57 I have a working ADB to USB adapter. But I don't think that USB to ADB exist.

Posted by: Bunsen on 2016-03-04 06:31:31 See if kbdbabel have got that working yet.

Posted by: billymade on 2016-03-04 08:00:52 Maybe everyone; should figure out, what type of adapters they would want and contact these guys. See, the feasibility of the project and how much, they would charge?

Posted by: Bunsen on 2016-03-04 13:48:01 A cable adapter won't do jack, if you'll pardon the pun. You're talking about two very different data streams: USB would have to be intelligently translated by a microcontroller to ADB, and you need a micro that can be a USB host, not a device.

Posted by: MJ313 on 2016-03-04 18:46:23 Encourage BMOW to pick it as his new project idea... 🙂

Posted by: rezwits on 2016-03-05 01:00:19 They make PS/2 to USB and then they make PS/2 to ADB? Start there I suppose.

Posted by: bigmessowires on 2016-03-05 07:13:34 This is something I've been considering making. There's a software USB library for AVR microcontrollers called LUFA, that supports both USB device and host modes, so the microcontroller wouldn't necessarily need hardware support for USB host (though it would be nice). bbraun also did some work on this idea a year or two ago, and got something that mostly worked, so it's definitely possible.

Posted by: ArmorAlley on 2016-03-05 12:56:13 One of the Kensington Mouse-in-a-box (64475) is a USB laser mouse and it comes with an ADB attachment. I have never used it but I gather from other fora that the USB>ADB attachment is specific to this mouse.
Amazon have one at the moment but I'm not going to lavish $50 + postage to find out about it.

Posted by: johnklos on 2016-03-05 12:59:41 I have a Kensington TurboMouse USB/ADB trackball. The function is right in the name. I lost the USB adapter ages ago, though, because I only use it on ADB machines.
|
Posted by: ArmorAlley on 2016-03-05 13:30:15 So it is an ADB device with an ADB>USB adapter?
I have an ADB Turbo Mouse trackball and it is a nice device. I use it attached to by KVM as my main mouse.

Posted by: rsolberg on 2016-03-05 15:14:22 The TurboMouse USB/ADB has a cable attached with a male mini-din plug attached. It has a non-standard pin layout. One each adapter cable from this to ADB and USB are included. I believe the unit has separate ADB and USB controllers inside, using different pins on the mini-din for each.
