Compact "mix" (SE/30 + Classic II)

could it be (theoretically ) possible to "mix" the case of two different "compact" mac, let's say attach the front bezel of a Classic to a Macintosh SE/30 ?

Technically you can do anything.

The problem is do things line up? And then what adaptors do you need to make it fit?

Step 1 would be removing the front plastic bezel from metal frame and compare the anchor points, spacing and curvature, the SE(SE\30) bezel is flat while the Classic/Classic II is curved outward.

Since you are doing a Classic to SE (SE\30), you need to see if the SE(SE\30)'s metal frame fits the Classic bezel an lines up with its anchoring (screw) points.

The rest of the job is to make the parts fit, which I will not go into detail here. It's doable to a point and that point depends on how much work are you willing to put in to make it so.

EDIT: A major problem is going to be how the floppy drive lines up with the bezel's slot when you put that in later.

A couple of things to consider:

1. The se/30 has a brightness knob, the classic does it via software and pwm.

2. The se/30 has a fan on the back towards the top, the classic has the fan on the bottom towards the front

3. The metal chassis seems to fit nicely but of course the screw holes don't line up

Sorry but why are you trying? Dont get me wrong i think the classic is better looking from a design point of view than the se/30 but that curved front may make the floppy not fit well, thats if you use the floppy. You could use a dremil and make the brightness fit but i know nothing lol Elfen is an expert on all things mac 🙂
