| Power Mac 8600 & ATI Rage 128 Mac Edition PCI |
Posted by: dcr on 2020-06-16 05:32:00 Does anyone know if the ATI Rage 128 Mac Edition PCI would be compatible with a Power Mac 8600? All I've been able to find online is that it requires Mac OS 8.0 or higher and a 33 MHz or 66 MHz PCI slot. A PM 8600 can run Mac OS 8 or higher, so no problem there, but I've not found anything on the MHz of the PCI slot.

I've run mine on a Power Macintosh 4400 running 7.6.1, so it should be just dandy on your 8600. PCI slots on Power Macs are at least 33 so that shouldn't be an issue.

But for normal runaround use you should be good. Pop open the extensions manager and see what ATi drivers are running (and to disable the Nvidia ones, since they often just plastered everything in on a universal install).
