| Source for IIci interrupt ("programmer's") switches? |
Posted by: gcp on 2020-06-15 01:08:27 I've recently been resurrecting a IIci and managed to get just about everything working.
One thing that's starting to bother me is that I don't have an interrupt switch -- all three of the machines & cases that I've used to cobble this thing together are missing theirs 🙂 Anyone know of a source for these? I've seen re-creations for the all-in-one Macs, and even the Q650, but nothing for the IIci / Q700.
thanks!

Posted by: Fizzbinn on 2020-06-15 01:21:04 I got one from Herb's Stuff:
http://www.retrotechnology.com/herbs_stuff/m_parts.html#programmers
$19 with USPS Priority mail shipping (US to US address)
FYI I think the Q700 uses the same switch as the IIvi/IIvx/C650/Q650/PM7100, with round buttons, where as the IIcx and IIci use a similar switch but with wide thin rectangle buttons.

It's a relatively complicated array of plastic. I think it will probably be much more challenging for someone to come up with a 3D model.
The best advice I have is to watch Ebay for it. There used to be a couple of sellers I watched who had stock at good prices, but they sold out.
Apple Rescue of Denver has it for $20. I have had at a good ordering experience with them.

Doh! Just noticed that it is marked as out of stock. Never mind. Sigh.

I've been keeping an eye on eBay.
Great pointer to Herb's store - I've sent him a note. Looks like he might have some feet as well - fingers crossed!
Small world -- looks like is based a hop, skip, and a jump from where I grew up and spent most of my formative years. I'd be surprised if a bunch of his SGI stuff didn't come from the same place I used to play around on the Princeton campus back in the early 90's, learning how to cause mischief on the young internet 🙂
