Broken SE MB Modifications

Hi All,

I recently took my Macintosh SE FDHD down from the loft to play around with and it decided not to function. On inspecting the logic board I noticed a few modifications that looked out of place , anyone have any idea what they are?

Also I have sad Mac 0000000E/ 0000FFFF if anyone knows what that means?

The jumper is there to switch from 1Mb to 4Mb.

IIRC the second generation of boards had this, probably upgraded at some point.

The early ones had a resistor to cut.

Don’t see anything else weird.

The error code E means: failed data bus test. Bad SIMM or data bus error.

I would clean and reseat the SIMM. If you have, use some known good SIMM.

Thanks!

Turns out the ram slot wasn't holding a SIMM correctly, so I had to do some bodging with cable ties
