Mac Portable Help with Serial Number
Posted by: dondi on 2020-04-21 10:37:23
I just acquired a Mac Portable and it has a Serial Number of "C". Is there any significance to that (If any)? Does it mean it was the third unit produced?

Thanks,

Don

CK denotes being made in Cork, Ireland. Not sure what the solitary C means.

Your Mac Portable was the 3rd Mac (CK108003M60) manufactured during the 8th week (CK108003M60) of 1991 (CK108003M60) in Cork, Ireland (CK108003M60).

I'm afraid no one really knows. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the name of place it was manufactured.

I've seen Mac Classics with no text, with the actual production date (aka Chassis date) or with this "Serial Number" + letter text...

The sticker on my Quadra 950 (made June '92) says Serial Number S...
