Replacement power switch for 512k?
Posted by: tattar8 on 2020-03-20 22:35:10
So I'm working on resurrecting a Mac 512k and I think I've stumbled across my first problem -- the power switch seems to be dead.  I measure no continuity across it in either position; I've tested for continuity between each leg and other spots on its trace.  Does anyone know of a suitable replacement?  In the meantime, I'll probably just solder a wall switch to it temporarily as soon as my new soldering iron arrives.

I had an SE/30 switch that went bad.  I was able to take it apart and restore it and its working great now.  Something to consider if you can't find a replacement.

Found the link

Thank you, that fixed the problem!  I opened it (without even needing to desolder it from the analog board) and scraped all the metal contacts inside, and now I'm testing continuity across it.

But now I'm still not getting any power from the board.  I'm seeing that I'm measuring an open circuit across R39, which is directly in series with the power switch.  The only schematic I've found for this board shows it as 10 (COLD); does anyone have any details on it?  Is it supposed to be a heat fuse?

Edit:  it's a thermistor.  Does anyone have the specs on it so I can order a new one?
