I came across some source code that said it could be built with "buildmac" by Dan Allen, have you every heard of this?

I just checked my site and there are no references to "buildmac" (one word) in the books I've got there. But there is one book by Dan Allen:

The README says Copyright (C) Lucent Technologies 1997 it is for MAWK(the AWK Programming Language", the full text says:
This is also said to compile on Macintosh OS 9 systems, using the
file "buildmac" provided by Dan Allen (danallen@microsoft.com),
to whom many thanks.

Dan Allen, author of the above-mentioned book, used to work at Apple back in the 1980s. Are we sure this is the same guy as mentioned in that README?
