SE PRAM Battery Location

Posted by: raoulduke on 2016-02-06 14:30:38 I've been meaning to ask for a while. I inexpertly desoldered the old one years ago, thankfully without harming the board. Is it the two outer holes? The only image I found showed differently but I would like certainty if someone is sure of the answer? Mouser sells these and I want to put a new one I got in.

Posted by: raoulduke on 2016-02-06 16:47:25 I gather my question wasn't clear.  I forget which of the four holes, two on each side, it was soldered to.  Based on the appearance, I assume the outer two holes.  Based on a picture I saw on google images searching for a guide-image, I am not certain.  Can anyone either snap a pic of their board or refer me to something that would definitively answer this question?

Posted by: techknight on 2016-02-07 08:26:20 doesnt matter. they are electrically connected.  The reason behind the two footprints is simple. One is for a battery holder, other is for a leaded-battery.

Posted by: raoulduke on 2016-02-07 11:31:10 takimoto - do you have an axial battery on the other side or a holder?  Techknight I'm not sure I follow - is that what you meant or are there just leaded and unleaded axials?  Or some third thing? Posted by: unity on 2016-02-08 08:45:27 Im confused by the confusion on this. The original SE models had wire-lead batteries. Then they moved onto holders. The SE was originally designed for both, something Apple does even with some capacitors (surface or through-wire). The move to holders came a little later. When exactly I can not say since there are so many SE models. Technight said all this. Also keep in mind with the huge volume of SEs produced, its probable later models has boards swapped in form earlier models, etc.

Posted by: takimoto on 2016-02-09 06:28:28 I have 2 SE and both have battery holder.I think we have later version in Japan like SE/30.(socketed CPU SE/30's are very rare in Japan) And they are FDHD.
