TextWrangler, though you'll have to contact Bare Bones about old versions. Contact info in that page.

TextMate 1.5 isn't free, but I still pay for new copies when I'm doing stuff in Tiger/Leopard.

There is a GUI version of emacs out there, which I had once on a G5. I think it was called Aquamacs. I much prefer BBEdit. Old versions of BBEdit (and TextWrangler?) are available for download from the BBEdit website, after which the licence question arises, but I leave that to you.
